Direct Gain: Glazing
Direct gain is the simplest form of passive solar heating. Sunlight, from equator-facing windows enters the space to be heated, it is then absorbed by surfaces (floor, walls, furniture, etc.), which warm up, store some of the heat, and re-radiate it back into the space, warming the room during the winter.
